The Iowa Wild enters its third season at Wells Fargo Arena as the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild. As part of its affiliation, the Iowa Wild is primarily responsible for developing young prospects for the parent club in St. Paul.

 During the 2014–15 season, the Wild had 12 players called up to the NHL, increasing the team’s total to 25 players called up in the first two years. Defenseman Matt Dumba became the first player in team history to be selected for the AHL All-Star Game. He also set a team record with a +4 rating at Charlotte on Dec. 6, 2014.  The team ranked 14thin the AHL for overall attendance, averaging nearly 5,700 fans per game at Wells Fargo Arena.

The team is heavily involved in the community with school programs such as: HyVee Wild About Reading and the Atlantic Bottling Co. Healthy Living Floor Hockey Program. The Iowa Wild also participates in fundraising efforts for numerous nonprofits in the area: including Susan G. Komen of Iowa, the ALS Association of Iowa, the American Heart Association, the Red Cross and the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. The team has made hundreds of donations to countless charities within the state of Iowa. The team plays in the Midwest Division of the AHL’s Western Conference. The AHL is a 30-team league with clubs located throughout the United States and Canada. Each team acts as the primary development affiliate for its respective NHL team. Nearly 90% of the players in the NHL are graduates of the AHL.
