Part-Time Catering Bartender

DESCRIPTION

The Catering Bartender is responsible for the service of all beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Must be personable, professional, and able to work in an ever-changing fast-paced environment. The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events as scheduled per business need.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures for serving alcoholic drinks including state/federal regulations pertaining to the distribution of alcohol

Part-Time Concessions Warehouse Worker

DESCRIPTION

The Concession Warehouse Worker is responsible for the receipt and storage of all food, beverages, and related products and equipment received at Iowa Events Center in Casey’s Center and EMC Expo Center. The inventory and security of all items are under the control of these employees. Employees must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work an event-based schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Checks all incoming items against purchase order sheets, checking details such as weight count, quality, and specification
  • Ensures that all items are received and placed in their storage location at the proper temperature
  • Deliver items from the warehouse to concession stands and place inventory in a proper fashion using the FIFO method of rotation (First-In-First-Out)
  • Assist Concession Managers in preparation for event needs

Part-Time Dishwasher & Catering Steward

DESCRIPTION

The Dishwasher & Catering Steward is responsible for the sanitation of all kitchen equipment, cooking utensils, dishware, glassware and silverware, as well as the kitchen.  They are also responsible for all back of house areas being set and ready prior to events. The Dishwasher & Catering Steward will assist in pulling and staging all equipment prior to set-up as well as clean-up after the event. All catering equipment will be maintained, stored and inventoried. Assist in other areas of Catering as required.   • Operate dish machine equipment & wash any items not dishwasher-safe by hand
  • Sort and remove trash or compost and clean the bins out after usage. Sweep and/or scrub all floors in the kitchen and back of house areas

Part-Time Maintenance Technician

DESCRIPTION

The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for various equipment and facility maintenance needs. This position will assist in a variety of non-skilled duties as operations and events require. Accountable to the Lead Engineer, Asst Chief Engineer, Chief Engineer. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for event engineering needs such as, but not limited to, event set-ups & changeovers, laying power, unlocking doors, listening, and responding appropriately to radio calls for engineering assistance
  • Performs maintenance and repair of facility doors, hardware, millwork, seats, furniture, rails, staging, fixtures, and associated equipment
  • Under general direction, performs maintenance and repair of facility equipment, auxiliary systems, and minor electrical and plumbing repairs
  • Participates in routine preventative maintenance on equipment; oils and lubricates fans, motors, pumps, and generators; and cleans screens, strainers, burners, and automatic controls as directed

Part-Time Parking Lot Attendant

DESCRIPTION

Parking Lot Attendant is an on-call, per event employee who assists in direction of customers in and around the Iowa Events Center parking lots during events. This position is responsible for handling a high volume of cash and credit transactions in a responsible manner. This employee must have excellent attendance to ensure the success of the Parking Department during events held at the Iowa Events Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet and direct customers entering parking lots
  • Communicate parking information to the public
  • Accept cash or credit payment. Count back correct change as needed, and use credit machine with personal identification number and building codes

Assistant Ticket Office Manager

Building Coordinator

DESCRIPTION

The Building Coordinator is an event-driven support position that provides physical support and oversees projects and employee productivity in the areas of housekeeping, show care, room sets, event teardown, arena conversions, convention services, and grounds maintenance at the Iowa Events Center. Operations Intern

DESCRIPTION

This Operations Intern will work closely with the Operations Department through hands-on learning. This will include how to operate the facility and events through a variety of disciplines, like set-up and teardown of events, event management, housekeeping, scheduling, recruitment, budgeting, capital projects, and inventory.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in scheduling personnel and tasks for day-to-day operations as well as event set-up, event management, and event teardown
  • Shadow Operations Supervisors gain an understanding of how to manage, direct, and motivate operations crew before, during, and after an event
  • Informative training with buffer, rider sweepers / scrubbers, walk-behind scrubbers, blowers, vacuums, forklifts and other various equipment
