The Good, the Bad and the Bacon

The 10th Annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival will take place at the Iowa Events Center from 10 AM to 5 PM on February 18.
The Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival is known for wacky themes that bacon-lovers embrace year after year, “A western theme just makes sense because the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival is lawless, just like the old west,” said Brooks Reynolds, Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival Chair and Cofounder. “Rules don’t - and shouldn’t -- apply to bacon. But goldarnit those Bacon Bandits do need to be corralled.”
“We thought the TEN-year anniversary is a good time to lay tribute to the origins of bacon – or rather its unsmoked cousin, ‘salt pork’- which was a main entrée for many a railroad worker, outlaw, cowboy and cowgirl alike (not necessarily in that order),” added Reynolds.
Recognized as the world’s premier bacon festival, the much talked about Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival takes place annually in Des Moines, IA. Organized and promoted by the Iowa Bacon Board, the festival offers food, fun, and most importantly international bacon fellowship. Bacon-enthusiasts from around the world gather for one day of extensive bacon sampling, bacon lectures, bacon-inspired dishes, bacon competitions, an annual bacon queen contest, bacon awards and live entertainment. Every year, the festival announces a wacky theme for attendees, restaurants and sponsors to embrace. From Baconmania VIII’s wrestling vibe to Viva Las Bacon’s tribute to old Vegas, everyone gets a little goofy to take part in the bacon madness.
