Building Coordinator

DESCRIPTION
The Building Coordinator is an event-driven support position that provides physical support and oversees projects and employee productivity in the areas of housekeeping, show care, room sets, event teardown, arena conversations, convention services, and grounds maintenance at the Iowa Events Center.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads small teams on tasks and projects overseeing work quality and productivity
- Provides daily training and coaching to part-time staff members in day-to-day activities
- Operates an assortment of equipment including, but not limited to, forklifts, pallet jacks, buffers, burnishers, rider sweepers

Catering Sales Coordinator

DESCRIPTION
The Catering Sales Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Catering and the Catering Sales Department with administrative and operational functions related to providing support for catered functions and other duties as assigned. Will provide support to Arena managers as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees event coordination, with support from AGM/Senior Catering Sales Manager, as final decision-maker in matters pertaining to event execution including financial and operational matters.
- Responsible for ensuring that contract signatures, cut-off dates, and estimates are accurate and that all contracts are processed in accordance with company credit policies.
- Responsible for submitting finalized Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to the AGM and Executive Chef.
- Responsible for high-level oversight to ensure successful onsite catered events and customer satisfaction to encourage repeat business and referrals

Director of Events

DESCRIPTION
The Director of Event Services is primarily responsible and uses independent judgment to oversee all post-booking stage service delivery methods. Directs, manages, supervises and coordinates the activities and operations of Event Services functions assuring the highest quality service program to assure rebooking of events.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Exercise direct supervision over Event Managers and event staff on all facility events including, but not limited to, the parking, guest services and reception employees.
- Oversee the activities of employees engaged in providing event coordination, telecommunications, technical support, audio-visual services, food & beverage, event security, fire regulation compliance, exhibitor services, box office, parking and overall client satisfaction during events.
- Prepare departmental annual budget; recommend capital improvements; control and monitor departmental expenditures; assist in preparation of estimated revenues for facility budget.
- Consult with exhibit managers, promoters, convention representatives, and others concerning physical set-up needs and requirements for licensed areas; prepare work orders and cost-estimates accordingly.

Engineer

DESCRIPTION
The Engineer performs skilled journey level and leadwork duties on the technical operation of critical facility systems, performing facility & equipment maintenance/troubleshooting, and system monitoring under general direction. Employee performs advanced work in the maintenance and repair of steam-generating boilers, electrical generating equipment & auxiliary systems, and centralized air-conditioning systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs maintenance and repair of facility equipment, auxiliary systems, and minor electrical and plumbing repairs
- Performs routine preventative maintenance on equipment and auxiliary systems; oils and lubricates fans, motors, pumps, and generators, cleans screens, strainers, burners, and automatic controls
- Accurately and timely performs tasks to ensure the highest level of efficiency in the operation returning equipment to operational status
- Troubleshoots and recommends operational methods and procedures

Event Manager

DESCRIPTION
The Event Manager will manage every aspect of their assigned events from the advance planning stages through the end of the event; hire, train, schedule and supervise all event staff; oversee building security and interact with local public safety officials to ensure events run smoothly; coordinate communication between event staff/security and delegate assignments; be responsible for and ensure overall customer and lessee satisfaction and experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating the logistics of events throughout the Iowa Events Center
- Develop and control event budgets including preparing pre-show event financial estimates and completing post-show financial settlements based on contractual requirements.
- Detail event for client approval and internal communication by creating Event Resume in Ungerboeck Software
- Assist internal and external clients with event logistics and suggest the most effective ways to use the facility for specific types of functions.

Operations Intern

DESCRIPTION
The Operations Intern gives students the opportunity to go behind the curtains to understand what it takes to flip the arena from an Iowa Wild hockey game to a rock concert to NCAA Men's Basketball.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in scheduling personnel and tasks for day-to-day operations as well as event set-up, event management, and event teardown
- Shadow Operations Supervisors to gain an understanding of how to manage, direct, and motivate Operations crew before, during, and after an event
- Learn how a capital expenditure budget is developed and prioritized from year to year
