Catering Coordinator

DESCRIPTION
The Catering Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Catering, Sr. Catering Manager, Catering Department and Culinary Department operation with administrative functions related to providing support for events, temporary staff coordination and other duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support to the Catering & Culinary Departments with coordination and communication of all Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) on department posting boards, including operation set-up notes.
- Updates the BEO Book promptly for accurate communication between departments.
- Receives new hire information from Human Resources. Provide deptartment orientation/training to new Catering employees
- Participates in weekly BEO meetings and staff meetings, as required, to help facilitate excellent communication of information between teams.

Engineer

DESCRIPTION
The Engineer performs skilled journey level and leadwork duties on the technical operation of critical facility systems, performing facility & equipment maintenance/troubleshooting, and system monitoring under general direction. Employee performs advanced work in the maintenance and repair of steam-generating boilers, electrical generating equipment & auxiliary systems, and centralized air-conditioning systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs maintenance and repair of facility equipment, auxiliary systems, and minor electrical and plumbing repairs
- Performs routine preventative maintenance on equipment and auxiliary systems; oils and lubricates fans, motors, pumps, and generators, cleans screens, strainers, burners, and automatic controls
- Accurately and timely performs tasks to ensure the highest level of efficiency in the operation returning equipment to operational status
- Troubleshoots and recommends operational methods and procedures

Operations Coordinator

DESCRIPTION
The Operations Coordinator is an event-driven support position that provides physical support and oversees projects and employee productivity in the areas of housekeeping, show care, room sets, event teardown, arena conversations, convention services, and grounds maintenance at the Iowa Events Center.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads small teams on tasks and projects overseeing work quality and productivity
- Provides daily training and coaching to part-time staff members in day-to-day activities
- Operates an assortment of equipment including, but not limited to, forklifts, pallet jacks, buffers, burnishers, rider sweepers

Operations Intern

DESCRIPTION
The Operations Intern gives students the opportunity to go behind the curtains to understand what it takes to flip the arena from an Iowa Wild hockey game to a rock concert to NCAA Men's Basketball.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in scheduling personnel and tasks for day-to-day operations as well as event set-up, event management, and event teardown
- Shadow Operations Supervisors to gain an understanding of how to manage, direct, and motivate Operations crew before, during, and after an event
- Learn how a capital expenditure budget is developed and prioritized from year to year
