Database Marketing Coordinator

DESCRIPTION

OVG is seeking a creative, dynamic individual to join our marketing and sales team at the Iowa Events Center who can help build database marketing strategies that engage current and prospective customers across multiple channels and analyze results to improve sales.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deploy communications to various Iowa Events Center databases, including marketing, group sales, premium, and media lists. 
  • Understand and analyze data to implement tactics to grow subscription and engagement metrics for existing and new databases. 
  • Drive innovation regarding the Iowa Events Center’s digital marketing strategy, inclusive of social media, podcasts, database marketing, video, and website presence.  
  • Track, analyze, and compare engagement and event ticket sales generated through database marketing and suggest improvements to reach goals.

Building Engineer

DESCRIPTION

The Engineer performs skilled journey level and leadwork duties on the technical operation of critical facility systems, performing facility & equipment maintenance/troubleshooting, and system monitoring under general direction. Employee performs advanced work in the maintenance and repair of steam-generating boilers, electrical generating equipment & auxiliary systems, and centralized air-conditioning systems.  Accountable to the Assistant Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs maintenance and repair of facility equipment, auxiliary systems, and minor electrical and plumbing repairs
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on equipment and auxiliary systems; oils and lubricates fans, motors, pumps, and generators, cleans screens, strainers, burners, and automatic controls
  • Accurately and timely performs tasks to ensure the highest level of efficiency in the operation returning equipment to operational status
  • Troubleshoots and recommends operational methods and procedures

Internships

Operations Intern

DESCRIPTION

The Operations Intern works closely with department leadership on a variety of projects, assigned tasks, and shadowing as directed with training emphasis in the areas of facility management, employee oversight, event set-up, event teardown, budgeting, and event management as it relates to the Operations Department.  Some additional shadowing in the areas of Operations Administration, Engineering, and I.T/Production may be available as time/availability allows.  This temporary opportunity provides the intern with exposure to the day-to-day operations and projects necessary to manage a large event facility. The employee should be able to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends as their schedule allows.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shadow Operations Supervisors on day-to-day facility management before, during, and after events
  • Work on assigned tasks/projects as it relates to day-to-day facility management including, but not limited to, event set-up, event management, event teardown, and Arena / Convention Center conversions
  • Provide basic task direction to a small group of employees as directed creating a teamwork atmosphere
  • Learn about the employee scheduling process for a large team of hourly and temporary staff
  • Exposure to department forecasting and the Operation’s budget log.
